Re-roofing versus repairing your roof

If your roof is in a poor condition, then you may need to replace it. Technically, any refurbishment or repairs where more than 25% of the roof needs to be replaced counts as re-roofing. This is relevant because it affects your obligations under UK building regulations. If you are re-roofing then you may need to improve your insulation. In the case of flat roof repairs, you can sometimes avoid the cost of insulation by overlaying a new roof.
